Self-Employed
Under the self-employed program, foreign nationals must demonstrate they have relevant experience in cultural/athletics activities or farming.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Relevant experience:
    • Cultural/Athletic Activities: 2 years full time work experience in the last 5 years prior to application. Work experience can take any of the following forms:
  1. Self-employed in NOC Group 51 (Professional occupations in art or culture) or NOC Group 52 (Technical occupations in art, culture, recreation and sports)

  2. Worked in any of the occupations in NOC Group 51 or NOC Group 52 at a world class level

iii. A combination of either (i) or (ii)

    • Farming:  2 years full time work experience in the last 5 years prior to application. Work experience must be in the management of a commercial farm
  • Demonstrate any of the following intentions:
    • Engage in cultural or athletic activities that will make a significant contribution in Canada OR
    • Purchase and run a commercial farm in Canada
  • Intentions can be proven through finances, partnerships, exploratory visits, business experience or business plan
  • A pass mark of 35 points on the self-employed points system which is based on the following factors:
    • Proficiency in English or French
    • Work Experience
    • Education
    • Adaptability
  • Must be admissible to Canada

Dans le cadre du programme des travailleurs indépendants, les ressortissants étrangers doivent démontrer qu’ils ont une expérience pertinente dans les activités culturelles / sportives ou l’agriculture.

Critères d’admissibilité

  • Expérience pertinente:
    • Activités culturelles / sportives: 2 ans d’expérience de travail à temps plein au cours des 5 dernières années précédant la demande. L’expérience professionnelle peut prendre l’une des formes suivantes:
  1. Travailleur autonome dans le groupe 51 de la CNP (professions libérales dans les domaines de l’art ou de la culture) ou 52

  2. A exercé l’une des professions du groupe 51 ou du groupe 52 de la CNP au niveau mondial

iii. Une combinaison des deux (i) or (ii)

    • Exploitation agricole: 2 ans d’expérience de travail à temps plein au cours des 5 dernières années précédant la demande. Expérience de travail doit être dans la gestion d’une ferme commerciale
  • Démontrer l’une des intentions suivantes:
    • Participer à des activités culturelles ou sportives qui apporteront une contribution importante au Canada OU
    • Achat et exploitation d’une ferme commerciale au Canada
  • Les intentions peuvent être prouvées par des finances, des partenariats, des visites exploratoires, une expérience des affaires ou un plan d’affaires
  • Une note de passage de 35 points sur le système de points pour indépendants, basée sur les facteurs suivants:
    • Maîtrise de l’anglais ou du français
    • L’expérience professionnelle.
    • Éducation.
    • Adaptabilité
  • Doit être admissible au Canada
